John fought Anti-Monitors and many other villains throughout the galaxies as a member of the Green Lantern Corps of Earth. Stewart was a beloved character on the animated series, Super Friends (Justice League). Stewarts instincts and intuition proved to be exactly what makes a great Green Lantern. Marine from Detroit, Michigan was selected by the Guardians as a back up Green Lantern for Hal Jordan. First appearing in the comic Green Lantern (Vol 2) #87 in December of 1971 and whose original design was based on the great Sidney Poitier. The John Stewart character of the Green Lantern is one of the most beloved of the Green Lanterns but unfortunately one that is often overlooked.

Omari would be able to develop and carry this role to allow film companies to produce multiple iterations of the Green Lantern and allow us fans to enjoy the character as we have for many decades with the benefit of modern technology. Omari's experience and ability as a character actor would allow him to capture and portray the depth of the John Stewart character along with giving the character humanity, intellect, strength, intuition and presence, which are all expected from the Green Lantern.ĭC's last attempt to portray the Green Lantern on the big screen did not do the character justice.
